Hello,
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog and I am impressed with your results. I live in the US in the state of California. I would like to try some of your hydroponic methods. Is there a way I can email you or vice versa? I have questions about how you keep your plants irrigated? What is the composition of your growing medium? How often do you irrigate? What do you put in your solution (nutrients)? Perhaps you've blogged about this before. I've read most of your blogs but I did not find answers to these questions.
Best regards,
Chris

hello Chris
ReplyDeletethanks for checking out my blog... i hope u liked it too...
first, the method i use is simplified hydroponics.... most of whats been done in the USA is normal hydroponics... and its pretty expensive ... well at least thats what i hear...
irrigation here is the most simple....i recycle the water manually...
the growing pots/containers have a drain hole and i use empty pepsi/soda plastic bottles to collect the excess drained water and it is re used.... so on an average each potted plant/container requires not more than a mug of water daily...
the growing media i use is mostly coconut peat/ coconut fibre... and thats in abundance here since we have a coconut plantation as well... over 3000 trees...
i have a 90 litre water drum and to it i add a combination of 3 nutrients... whose composition even i do not know... but its classified as GROW, ROOT AND BLOOM
along with this i have to add calcium nitrate and magnesium sulphate...
the quantity i add is 3 spoons GROW, 4 spoons CaNo3 and 2 spoons MgsO4 in 90 litres.... and this lasts me for nearly 15 days....
i use grow nutrient water for all my plants from germination stage till flowering stage
after it reaches flowering stage i use another drum to which i have to just substitute GROW with BLOOM.... and the rest u know...
for root vegetables, i use ROOT along with the other nutrients....
http://padvalagriculture.blogspot.com/search/label/Hydroponics%20Building%20techniques check this link... its from my agriculture blog... which includes both my hydropnics and field agriculture practices...
the advantage of using simplified hydroponics is.... i dont have to depend on expensive inputs.. like green house, artificial lighting, incandescent bulbs or drip/irrigation motors which require electricity....
i make use of available resources and it works out fine...:)
California!!! thats one place i have to check out.....i used to play in a metal band... here in India... and now our drummer has re located to California where he plays for this Thrash metal band called Concrete Coffin...also based in LA...
but i dont know if u are interested in Metal... lol
cheers and keep in touch... prithamdsouza AT gmail DOT com

The existing post really shows the incredibility of hydroponics. And the existing pictures of growing lentils are really looking awesome. As we all know that hydroponics is one of soil free gardening where only water and mineral nutritions are only used. And this gardening really gives the organically grown products. And the same products are really fully free from chemical fertilizers, herbicides and systemic pesticides.
ReplyDeleteNice post, I have been following your post and I am impressed with your results.
